Kalo Pasxa!

Maybe it’s the Greek in me but I LOVE Easter. To quote Randy, the order of who was most excited about Easter this year in our home went- me, Adam, Malcolm, Randy.  I
I don’t know what it is about Easter, but I really do love it. Maybe it’s the Greek in me (it’s the largest holiday in Greece). Randy and I stayed up and hid the Easter Bunny eggs. We are the carrots and cookies left for the Easter Bunny (close your ears Adam) and left out Easter baskets made of presents sent from Grandma Yuyu, Aunt Sandra and our friends Mendel and Ami!

The boys were so excited to see that the Easter Bunny had come and eaten the carrots and cookies! Adam kept asking all week if the Easter Bunny was a real person or a bunny.  I have a hard time not telling the truth so I left this to Randy who wisely asked Adam what he thought. Adam said a real bunny so we went with that.

Then it was time for the egg hunt! I decided to hide each boy 10 eggs and color code them. Adam’s were purple and Malcolm’s were blue (their favorite colors). This was inspired by my brother, dear Uncle Ari, who used to wake up at 4 a.m. on Easter and sneak down to see where all the eggs were hidden. Then at the starting bell (when my parents finally got up and had their coffee- sorry guys for not sleeping in, I now know how you feel!) Ari would shove his little sisters aside and gather 99% of the eggs.

This color coded egg plan (yes, I know I’m crazy) went wonderfully! There was no fighting over eggs and Adam helped Malcolm find his when he was done.

Then it was on to Easter Baskets. These were mostly books and games and gift our wonderful friends and family sent. Some were sent for Easter and some were just sent and I squirreled them away for a rainy day. That day arrived and the boys loved everything! Aunt Sandra, Uncle Shawn, Roman and Isla sent the boys the cutest personalized Easter books. The boys LOVED these! They were so excited to hear and read their names in the coloring books and immediately set to work coloring in all the Easter eggs.

Here was Malcolm’s favorite, Easter tic-tacs sent by Grandma Gertch. He slept with these for the next three days.

And here is Adam’s favorite! A candy necklace that was quickly gobbled up!

Adam helped Malcolm open all of his eggs which was pretty cute and helped Malcolm to quickly eat all of his candy. Luckily mommy is learning and only put a candy or two in each egg and stickers in half. I think limiting the sugar and having color coded eggs made for less fighting. Hopefully I remember this for next year! And by limiting sugar, I mean only two candy necklace, some gummy bunnies, jelly bellies and chocolates, just in case you’re worried I’m depriving anyone.

Why yes, I do like candy. Thank you very much!

This was a present Mendel and Ami had sent for the boys birthday that I had been saving.  It’s watercolor paints and the boys LOVE it!! They used it to make me the cutest mothers day cards last week.

Adam was so excited that the Easter bunny knew their names! The boys are very lucky, Grandma Gertch sends so many books and signs them all for the boys. Sorry Grandma, the Easter Bunny may have taken credit for this one 🙂

Happy boy

Easter Spoils

We invited some of our friends over for a big Easter lamb lunch! It was great. I of course forgot to take any photos so you’ll just have to take my word for it. We had lamb, spinach pies, tzatziki, orzo shrimp and loads of desserts. We had another Easter hunt for all the kids and everyone had a great time!  I love Easter parties! It always makes being away from my family for the holiday a little easier.

Kalo Pasxa everyone!
