Guess who came back to the Philippines! Secretary Kerry! The last time he was here I was seven months pregnant with Malcolm and it was my second day of work. I was asked to fill in for a sick Public Affairs officer and ride along with his motorcade. Pretty exciting, except I had absolutely zero idea what I was doing.
This time I was asked to be the press site officer for his visit and press conference at the Department of Foreign Affairs, which involved lots of super exciting decisions, like hours of looking at how many lights should be used and where they should point, how many flags, where they should be placed, what podiums, where….the details, oh the details. But all a great learning experience!
But after all that work on game day everything went off perfectly! And I can say that I have been lucky enough to be this close to Secretary Kerry for two press conferences.
