Strep & visitors

Poor Adam, he’s had a rough week. He was feeling awful yesterday and had a fever all day.

Poor baby was so out of it and sick that all he wanted to do was sleep on me.  This hasn’t happened in months.  In some ways I loved the cuddles but I wish they didn’t have to be sick cuddles.

We went to the Embassy doctor in the morning and he was great.  He used to be a pediatrician which made me feel much better.   He thought Adam had a virus but nothing more serious.  We headed home and went out for a walk.  By that evening I could tell he just wasn’t feeling good at all.  His fever had gotten higher and the nurse on call thought it best we bring him into the nearby hospital- St Lukes.  I had no idea what to expect but I was for sure pleasantly surprised.  It was clean, the wait time was short and we soon found out that poor Adam had strep.  I’m happy it wasn’t anything more serious and we were able to get him on some antibiotics and today he’s already feeling much better!

ps – our entire ER bill was 1700 pesos or 40 bucks.

He’s been taking long naps today and is on the mend!

In happier news, it’s been so long since I’ve seen my friend Kate (a year and a half) that I had almost forgotten what one of her best qualities is.  She is so good at just doing.   When we were in London she would always go out of her way to meet me or to come over.  She would hop on the metro or tube and come anywhere.  She is the opposite of those people that like to sit on the couch all day….yes I’m talking about me.  She inspires me to be less lazy and to try harder to get out there and do.  It must be the Australian in her 🙂

Anyway, I digress.  She’s coming to Manila! This weekend!!She emailed me this morning throwing the idea around and is now on a flight arriving here at 11 pm!!  In case you can’t tell by all the exclamations, I am so excited to see her, to get to spend the weekend with her, to have her meet Adam and to go to the spa with her 🙂  I am in heaven!!  Seeing her will make it seem a little more like home here.  Even though we’ve only been here two weeks I’m excited to show her our apartment, our neighborhood and Manila.

Here we are at the Marylebone Registry Office.  Randy and I had to get married in London before our wedding in Greece (logistics).  As Kate likes to remind me, this is the same place Paul McCartney got married to two of his three wives! Kate was one of my witness (we had so many good friends there that we had four witnesses- thanks Gabs, Lev, Kate and Gavin!)

Here we are on my actual wedding day.  Kate is trying to convince me to take all my clothes off and not worry about the two photographers trying to snap pictures of my undies 🙂  She was a life saver that day and through my whole wedding process. She came with my to all of my wedding dress fittings even though it was all the way in South London, south of the Thames.  She suffered through many shopping trips for wedding shoes, bras and honeymoon clothes.  She listened to countless hours of my whining and trying to work out logistics of a wedding in another country.  Not only that, but she always did so with a smile!

I am so lucky to have a friend like her and even luckier that she lives only a short flight away now in Hong Kong and is coming to visit!  I can’t wait for four years of trips back and forth and trips around Asia and to visit Australia with her! More to come on our weekend together!
