This was an extra special playdate. Baby Theo was in the Nicu with Malcolm. He was born at 35 weeks but weighed only 2.5 pounds so he had to stay in the hospital even longer than Malcolm who was born at 31 weeks and weighed 4.3 pounds. When the boys were in the hospital, Theo’s mom, Sonali and I would talk about having a playdate when the boys were out. It was hard then to even imagine a time when Malcolm would be out of the NICU and big enough to have playdates but now it’s hard to remember this baby as anything but the chubby smiling baby who at last weigh-in was over 14 pounds!
My friend had a baby last week and I went over to get some newborn cuddles in. Her baby was born full term at 6 pounds and she was TEENY TINY. The whole time I tried to remember how little Malcolm must have been at almost two pounds lighter but it all seems so far away. Time really goes by so fast!
It was so nice to see Theo and his mommy! Before we know it these two will be fighting over who gets to hold the blue bucket at the pool like someone else we know 🙂
