When the magic happens

Caveat- We are back in Manila which is struggling through a nearby typhoon that is causing monsoon rains. We are safe, just waterlogged. But for now let’s get back to Italy and pretend that we are in a sunny yard surrounded by orange trees having a breakfast of delicious Bialetti coffee and ricotta cheese.
Some days as a parent with small children, everything just clicks. There are plenty of days when one or all four of you are tired, hungry, cranky or just plain off.  But that just means that the days where all four of you are exactly where you want to be at the same time, are all the better.
This day in Puglia was one of those days. We woke up and both Randy and I managed to squeeze a run in. I ran first so I was able to enjoy my coffee while Randy ran while enjoying the backyard laden with orange trees looking at recipe books while the boys ran around trying to catch lizards.
We got in the car and drove back to Otranto, a town we had briefly stopped in the week before. We headed straight to a fish restaurant, L’Altro Baffo.  Maybe the restaurant really was as amazing as we remember, or maybe the food was great and the stars were all aligned.
Malcolm napped on the way over in the car. He woke up a little while after we arrived and was in a surprisingly great mood. Adam was so excited when Malcolm woke up that he wanted nothing more than to hang out with him and he was so sweet.

The waiter brought out the fish and Adam and Malcolm picked out their very own fish.

The adults got to pick out their own rose.

The boys cuddled the entire time and finished every last bite of their fish.

Our food came and it was delicious!

After lunch we all walked around and everyone was in a great mood.

After that we headed back to the Turkish beach where Adam even caught a lizard! He was so excited and so surprised and yet he didn’t let go of that lizard. He held onto him even when that little lizard started squirming around and trying to get away.  Eventually though he let that little guy go back into the rocks. We all headed down to the beach and had a great couple of hours playing in the sand and the water.

When the magic happens, you don’t question why you just go with it and savor every moment.
